Since 2021, I have been Labour’s Shadow Attorney General. My role is to hold the Attorney General to account, and to develop Labour’s policy across a range of areas, including increasing the effective prosecution of criminals, looking at international legal issues like the prosecution of war crimes in Ukraine, and developing Labour’s approach to tackling the fraud epidemic.
The Attorney General is the government’s chief law officer, whose role is to provide legal advice and support to the government. The Attorney General also oversees a number of public bodies including the Crown Prosecution Service and the Serious Fraud Office.
