Thank you for contacting me about the war in Ukraine.

I completely agree with you that Britain and our allies must continue to stand firmly in support of Ukraine as they face down this despicable act of unprovoked aggression from Russia. I remain stanchly of the view that if the West do not continue to robustly challenge President Putin’s behaviour, he is only likely to become emboldened to commit more egregious crimes in the future.

Labour supports the government’s ongoing support for President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people, and Keir Starmer has been clear that this approach would continue under a Labour government. This includes working hard to ensure that the international coalition of support for Ukraine remains staunchly committed to their security and sovereignty, working in lockstep with our international allies to cut off the funding for President Putin’s war machine through the toughest possible sanctions regime, and continuing to supply Ukraine with the weapons and financial support it needs to fight off this barbaric invasion.

So please know that I and my Labour colleagues will continue to stand strongly in support of Ukraine.
