We are looking for a Policy Researcher to join Emily Thornberry’s team. You would mainly be based in our Westminster office, but you should be prepared to accompany Emily to events and meetings across the UK, and work in her Islington constituency office from time to time. Some weekend and evening work will also be required.
This is an interesting and important job: scrutinising government policy on international trade; gathering and analysing evidence; liaising with external experts, business representatives and NGOs; preparing briefing notes; and drafting written material on policy issues for use by MPs in parliamentary debates and by Emily in her public statements and letters to constituents.
We are looking for someone with excellent research and communication skills, experience of preparing written and verbal briefing materials, and the ability to work proactively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Good knowledge of parliamentary processes, and a strong interest in trade policy, would be great advantages. You should be prepared to be both proactive and flexible, with strong interpersonal and teamworking skills, and committed to Labour values.
Salary: £25,500 – £30,000, according to experience.
Completed application forms should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, to arrive no later than 22/06/20.
