Emily Thornberry Labour MP for Islington South and Finsbury
Dear Friends,
Last week I attended the proposed site of a statue of Sylvia Pankhurst, on Clerkenwell Green, to applaud the efforts of psychotherapists Susanne Levin and Matthew Bell, whose social enterprise The Farringdon Practice in Clerkenwell has made a generous donation to the statue fund.
We are three months into the year when we celebrate 8.4 million women first being given the right to vote. Sylvia Pankhurst did so much to make that change happen, and we should get the statue in her memory in place during this centenary year. The campaign to erect the statue has so far raised £75,000 from donations, but needs a further £70,000 for the statue to be in place by the end of the year.
You can donate to the statue fund here: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sylviastatue
Best wishes,
Emily
