Emily Thornberry Labour MP for Islington South and Finsbury
I was so pleased to meet with my constituents today. Tackling climate change is fundamental for our future prosperity. Climate Change is an issue that will affect not only our children’s future but the whole planet as well….
There is a huge opportunity to switch to a low carbon economy now, creating jobs for people in Islington, saving on fuel bills and creating a healthier more sustainable community.
I will make sure that over the next 5 years of this Tory Government this issue isn’t dropped, and I will be holding this Government to account! It is important that the UK leads by example and pushes for ambitious targets across all countries.
The United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris in December are an opportunity that must not be missed. We must ensure global action to tackle the threat of climate change.
I will write to the Prime Minister and raise the issues discussed today in Parliament to ensure they aren’t swept under the rug. I will also be speaking to Islington’s Labour Council about what else can be done locally.
