Emily Thornberry today won her campaign to get a Barclays bike hire rack installed near Parliament.

After pressure from Emily, Westminster Council has given the go ahead for the first Barclays bike docking stations near the Houses of Parliament.

Islington residents will now be able to pick up and drop off Barclays bikes from just outside Parliament -; making it much easier for many to use the scheme for their commute or to lobby their MP.

Emily Thornberry said:

“I’m delighted that Westminster Council has listened to me and given the go ahead for the new racks by Abingdon Green.

As Barclays bike users will know, there’s a real shortage of docking stations around Westminster and it’s high time we got some.

Last year I won my battle for a cycle rack by Westminster Bridge. And with these new Barclays Bike docking stations, Westminster’s finally looking a lot more bike friendly”

The work on the new racks is starting in the next few weeks, and TfL has promised that they will be ready for use this spring.
