Both the Almeida Theatre and Sadlers Wells will be hit by serious cuts to their funding -; with the Almeida Theatre losing over £865,000 by 2015 in a 39% real terms cut.

 

The Arts Council’s budget was slashed by over £100 million in October in the Tory Lib-Dem Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review.

Emily said: “The Tory-Lib Dem Government is wrong to choose to pay back the deficit in this reckless fashion. Their cuts go too far and too fast -; and the Almeida is the latest in a long line of needless victims. The Almeida is a theatre of world renown and Islington is rightly proud of it.”
