Labour MP Emily Thornberry has congratulated Nick Clegg - who trekked across the arctic with her in February - on winning the leadership of the Liberal Democrats. Emily and Nick put politics aside to join forces to trek across the Arctic and raise money for Islington based The Children's Society.
During the 300km trek Emily and Nick fed, cleaned and cared for their husky dogs, built an igloo together to sleep in and caught fish to survive. The trek was a test of their stamina and physical strength, as they battled with the freezing cold.
Emily said:
"Congratulations to Nick for winning a close run contest. We may not agree on everything politically, but we get on well personally. I look forward to seeing him leading the Lib Dems in the House of Commons chamber -a warmer meeting place than the Arctic Circle".
