Following a visit to the Blessed Sacrament to visit those evacuated from York Way Emily Thornberry MP issued the following statement:
‘Yet again we are reminded of how much we rely on the emergency services. We also remember the importance of dedicated community workers like Father Jim. Residents are handling the crisis with remarkably good humour. They are being practical and sensible. It is community spirit like this that helps make things manageable. As soon as the fire is out I shall be pressing for answers to a number of questions, but at the moment people are just trying to find somewhere to stay.'
