MPs speak to local school councils

The two Labour MPs for Islington, Emily Thornberry and Jeremy Corbyn, spoke to children from local school councils about what they had learnt from being MPs, as they opened this week's Local Democracy Week in Islington.

The school council representatives heard from Jeremy how, just like MPs, they had been elected to make choices for their fellow pupils, and to be held accountable for what they chose. Emily told the assembled school kids that she hopes to be an Islington MP for the next 20 years, adding: "so there'll be a vacancy which one of you will be just the right age to fill!"
